A new chapter of sports history in Taiwan! The Lobsang Run attracts more than 250 disabled runners (2022-03-23)

Running Note, Lobsang and H2U Corp. co-host the Lobsang Run in Taichung, Taiwan on March 13, opening a new chapter of sports history in Taiwan. For the first time, 600 charity tickets are provided for disabled and accompanying runners. There are also electric wheelchair charging stations, many barrier-free and warm-hearted services. In addition, runners and volunteers are provided with vegetarian food, which incorporate the concept of the sustainability of low-carbon emissions and environmental protection, and attract nearly 3,500 people to join the meaningful event together.

Saxon Chen, the president of H2U Corp., fully admires the low-carbon concept. He said that it is totally the same as H2U Corp.’s commitment to promoting sustainable investment of ESG this year. This event could bring up the health awareness, build a disabled-friendly environment, and create a win-win solution of increasing profits and pursuing sustainability simultaneously.

In the past, most running race either explicitly or privately rejected the disabled, or the track was very unfriendly to these people, so they felt hard to enroll. This event started a new era for friendly sports. An electric wheel attendee said: “This is the first time I have participated in road running in my life. I used to think that this activity has nothing to do with me. After this event, I realized that road running is really amazing! The road was closed for us to run, and there were all kinds of delicious food and supplies along the way. How can it be so much fun!

Professor I-Tsun Chiang, chairman of the Taiwan Society for Adapted Physical Activity, led several professors to experience blind running as the visually impaired. He admired this friendly race for the regardless of different type of disabilities, including setting up a charging station for electric wheelchairs at the finish line, and when people with disabilities reached the finish line, their family could receive a notification to facilitate the process of collecting materials and related issues after the event for the runners. The equipment is very considerate.

Lobsang Run is a public charity road run in Taichung City. The race distance is divided into 4 kilometers, 12 kilometers, and 21 kilometers. There are many highlights and pioneers in the event. First, runners can run on the Kenan Aegean Bridge, which connects Shuinan and Central Taiwan Science Park to enjoy the traffic scenery around National Highway No. 1 and No. 74 Expressway. Second, the transportation and security vehicles are electric instead of fuel vehicles. Third, runners and volunteers are provided with plant-based food. Forth, the exclusive environmentally friendly water cups are provided to reduce the production of disposable paper cups. With all the acts of environmental protection, the ultimate purpose is to create a road running event with the lowest carbon emission in Taiwan.

All the distinguished guests are invited to participated in this meaningful event, including Yen-Yao Yao, founder of Running Biji; Guo-Cin Chen, CEO of Live Forever Construction; Jhih-Bin Chen, CEO of CENTURION; Shun-Hao Liou, G.M. of JhuLun Moter; Chang-Geng Yang, G.M. of Vmoto; Kuang-Piao Hsu, Principal of National Taiwan Sports University; Wei-Jhuo Lin, President of Marathon Rotary Club. They show fully support to sports charity. Government and enterprises also support the race, such as Plant A provides organic oats milk, and Sanitarium Health and Wellbeing Company provides Weet-Bix breakfast cereals. These supplies show the low-carbon environmental protection concept of the event.
